The Cincinnati Reds just lost another game-pulling defeat from the jaws of victory. Lots of great looking young talent on this team including Edinson Volquez, Johnny Cueto, Daryl Thompson, Homer Bailey(kind of a bad name for a pitcher to have-HOMER), Jay Bruce, Brandon Phillips, and Joey Votto among others. Looks like a solid nucleus for the future.
Tiger Woods is out for the remainder of the golf season. Bummer. That ruins the British Open and the PGA for me. It's a wide open opportunity, though, for someone to cash in a couple of Majors.
Really looking forward to the NFL season. Being a Cleveland Browns backer there is hope for a playoff spot this season with some quality free agent pick-ups in the offseason and re-signing some key people such as Derrick Anderson and Jamal Lewis. They got a boost in the talent level on the defensive line and a new starting wide receiver to complement Braylon Edwards. They also got some good offensive line reinforcements. The O line improved dramatically last season. Things look good on paper, but keeping most of your guys healthy is the key to any season AND having a little luck.
The only negative that I see is the schedule. Jeez. This is a tough one. Not many teams on there, from outside the division, that didn't make the playoffs last year or were improving bigtime towards the end. The TV networks are taking notice, as there are 5 nationally televised games. Hopefully the team will stay healthy and give the nation some quality games. There were some real clunkers on the national stage last year.
